Welcome to the 11th annual

Baltic Nordic Fringe Network global artist call!

Bring your work to new audiences, connect with other artists and build your own Fringe touring route. With one online application, you can submit your project for one or several of the seven participating festivals.

Our network connects 10 festivals across seven countries: Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden. Together, the BNFN festivals expect to present over 850 events across more than 90 stages and spaces in 10 cities between May and September 2027.

Seven festivals are participating in the joint call, while the remaining members are arranging their programmes independently.

Several late-summer festivals overlap. Agree performance dates, travel time and technical access with every festival before confirming your touring route.

Who can apply?

We welcome artists from all countries and territories, at every stage of their careers. You can apply to one or several participating festivals and submit more than one project, including workshops and seminars.

We encourage innovative and experimental work, works in progress, and collaborations across disciplines. Our festivals welcome theatre, dance, circus, clown, comedy, music, spoken word, drag, burlesque, visual art, photography, film, installations, site-specific performance, digital art, AI and VR projects, immersive experiences, games-based art and more.

Individual festivals have different programme priorities:

CPH STAGE’s BNFN opportunity is for Nordic-based artists.
Oslo Fringe does not consider standalone dance performances or concerts for this call. Concerts combined with other artistic elements, such as video, may be considered.
Artists below legal age are welcome, but can only be programmed in venues that do not serve alcohol.

Work may be presented in any language. Discuss subtitling and technical requirements with your chosen festivals.

How to apply

Read the 2027 Artist Guidelines, including the profiles of the festivals you wish to apply to.
Create or sign in to your Eventotron account and search for Baltic Nordic Fringe Network or BNFN 2027.
Complete your project information, choose your festivals, answer their questions and submit the required materials and fees.

Include clear information about your artistic idea, running time, company size, technical requirements, access needs, available dates and touring plans. Check that links and attachments work, include any viewing passwords, and save a copy of your answers.

Application deadline: 20 December 2026.

Apply early

Most festivals review applications on a rolling basis, with selections based on artistic criteria, programme balance and venue availability.

We particularly encourage early applications if you need a letter of intent or invitation to support a mobility funding application. Tell your chosen festivals about relevant funding deadlines.

Each festival selects its own programme and issues its own artist agreement. Applying through BNFN does not guarantee selection.

When will you hear back?

Indicative offer dates range from November 2026 to early March 2027. STOFF plans its first batch in November, followed by rolling offers until early 2027. Other festivals have different schedules, detailed in the guidelines.

Letters of intent or invitations may arrive before the published offer targets. These dates are indicative, rather than guaranteed notification deadlines.

Planning your participation

Application fees: Most participating festivals list a €30 fee. Oslo charges €20 for international acts only. STOFF offers free applications for artists under 20. Check individual profiles for youth exemptions and qualifying Fringe award exemptions.
Costs and income: Unless explicitly stated in your individual festival agreement, participation does not include an artist fee, travel reimbursement, accommodation or guaranteed ticket income. Budget for your own travel, accommodation and living expenses.
Venues and technical support: Spaces, equipment, staffing and access times vary. Many stages are shared, so provide clear technical requirements. Oslo requires artists to bring their own technician.
Artist agreements: Confirm your performance dates, fees, box office share, deductions, payment schedule and responsibilities with each festival.
Promotion: Artists are expected to promote their own work alongside the festival’s publicity. Prepare clear programme copy, full credits and high-resolution images, and meet the festival’s material deadlines.

Tell festivals about your team’s access requirements before a venue is confirmed. The main project contact must share acceptance letters and subsequent festival communications with the entire cast and crew.

Žagarė Fringe Festival

A biennial festival that brings contemporary culture into a rural setting through performances, concerts, exhibitions, workshops, and other artistic encounters.
