11th annual global artist call

One application.
Seven festival possibilities.

Apply to the BNFN festivals that suit your project and touring plans. The 2027 joint artist call runs from 20 October to 20 December 2026.

Who can apply

Artists everywhere.
Ideas in every form.

The call welcomes artists from all countries and territories, at every career stage. Innovative, experimental, hybrid and work-in-progress projects are encouraged.

Disciplines include theatre, dance, circus, clowning, comedy, music, spoken word, drag, burlesque, film, visual art, installation, AI, VR, games and immersive work. You may also propose workshops and seminars.

Check the fit before choosing a festival. CPH STAGE’s BNFN opportunity is for Nordic-based artists. Oslo seeks in-person projects with a performance-art focus, excludes standalone dance and concerts, and requires you to bring your own technician. Each festival profile sets out its specific criteria.

How to apply

Choose your festivals.
Tell us about your work.

  1. Read the guidelines and festival profiles

Check dates, artistic focus, eligibility, venue needs, fees and financial terms. You can select one or several of the seven participating festivals.

  2. Find BNFN 2027 in Eventotron

Create an account or sign in, open the BNFN 2027 listing and complete the shared application plus the questions for each selected festival.

  3. Submit during the call period

Apply between 20 October and 20 December 2026. Include your artistic proposal, team details, availability and clear technical requirements. Tell the festivals early if you need a letter for a mobility grant.

Tallinn and Žagarė use their own processes. Their applications are not included in BNFN 2027 on Eventotron.

Selection & offers

Each festival makes
its own selection.

Selection is rolling, based on artistic criteria, programme balance and venue availability. Applying early can help with planning and mobility funding; it does not guarantee a place.

These are indicative offer dates. Contact the individual festival if your project has an urgent funding or touring deadline.

Before submitting

Help each festival
understand your needs.

  • Technical requirements: include setup and pack-down times, staffing, equipment and any storage needs. Many venues are shared, with limited storage.
  • Availability: list date restrictions and allow time for travel between festivals, technical access and rest.
  • Access: raise access requirements before venue allocation.
  • Promotion: prepare high-resolution images with clear credits and meet the festival’s deadlines. Artists are expected to promote their own shows too.
  • Your team: keep everyone informed. The main contact is responsible for sharing communications with all cast and crew.

Useful questions

A little more detail.

Can I submit more than one project?

Yes. You can submit multiple projects and propose workshops or seminars. Complete the relevant information for each project and selected festival.

What length should my show be?

A typical Fringe show runs for around 40–60 minutes, but short-form and durational work are also welcome. Describe your running time and technical setup clearly.

Can my work be in any language?

Yes. Discuss language access and any subtitle or surtitling arrangements with the festivals you choose.

What should I say about access needs?

Describe access requirements early, before venue allocation, so the festival can discuss suitable spaces and support.

Can young artists take part?

Yes, subject to each festival’s eligibility and arrangements. Finfringe welcomes artists under 18, and STOFF has FRINGE ACADEMY. Tell festivals about young team members early. Artists below legal age cannot be placed in venues serving alcohol.

Who is responsible for team communication?

The main applicant must share festival communications, agreements, deadlines and practical information with everyone in the cast and crew.
